I was in the 7th grade.
I was in technology class and bored out of my easily-distracted little mind, so I got on Grooveshark to look for some music (we were allowed to).
I wanted to listen to The Black Parade (back then the only song I knew by them) so I searched for My Chemical Romance.
When I got done with The Black Parade, I saw another song, curiously dubbed “Mama”. Interested, I clicked play.
It was the most sinfully indulgent experience of my life.
When I listen to that song now, the lyrics are no biggy; but back then, boy, they were a shock to my ears. And I liked it. I liked the rueful, vengeful way Gerard first wispered, “Mama, we all go to hell.” It was like reading The Joy of Sex or something; it was that pleasurable, in such a naughty and taboo-feeling way.
Who knew it would lead to such hard-core fangirling?
